Google Business Profile formerly known as Google My Business helps customers find local businesses, like yours, on Google Search and Google Maps. With Google Business Profile you can interact with customers through messages, showcase your services and products, build trust with reviews, understand how customers find your business, and even specific health and safety measures that you have put in place to protect them.
You can manage and update your business profile directly on Google Search using either your desktop or mobile phone.
Make sure you're logged in with the account you use to manage your Business Profile.
To find your Business Profile, search on Google for your exact business name. You can also search for my business.
Updating Business Information
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Edit profile. On mobile, select Edit profile and then Business information.
You can quickly jump to a menu selection (About, Contact, Location, Hours, More) by clicking the header or just scroll down to find the information you’d like to update.
Click the section you’d like to change.
Update the information and click Save.
Updates should be completed fairly quickly.
Reviews
Reply to reviews on your Google Business Profile, whether they are positive or negative reviews, reply shows your responsiveness to your customers. Note: You will always receive an email when someone leaves a new review, so you won’t miss it.
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Read Reviews. On mobile, select Customers and then Reviews.
Find the review you'd like to respond to and click Reply.
Tip: To request more reviews grab your review link by clicking the Get more Reviews button and copying your review link to send to your customers.
Messages
Customers can use the "Chat" button on your Business Profile and message you at any time.
You get notifications for the messages that show up in your Business Profile.
Answer questions
You can share photos with your customers in the chat.
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Messages. On mobile, select Customers and then Messages.
Find the message you'd like to respond to and click to open it.
Type out your message and hit the send button.
Photos & Videos
There are several types of photos you can add to your Business Profile:
Logo: Help your customers recognize your business on Google. For businesses that have their basic information, such as a phone number or hours of operation, the Business Profile highlights the logo.
Cover photo: Set a cover photo at the top of your profile that best represents your business. In some instances, this action doesn’t guarantee the cover photo will show up as the first image for your business.
Business photos: Add different photos to highlight features of your business to attract and inform customers. Learn more about business photos.
Photo Requirements:
Format: JPG or PNG.
Size: Between 10 KB and 5 MB.
Recommended resolution: 720 px tall, 720 px wide.
Minimum resolution: 250 px tall, 250 px wide.
Quality: The photo should be in focus and well lit, and have no significant alterations or excessive use of filters. In other words, the image should represent reality.
Videos Requirements:
Duration: Up to 30 seconds long
File size: Up to 75 MB
Resolution: 720p or higher
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Add photo. On mobile, select Promote and then Photo.
Choose and add your photo.
Tip: Add an exterior photo of your business so people can recognize your business when they visit.
Performance Insights & Reporting
In the business performance report, you can monitor specific profile interactions such as:
Total interactions: A summary of all your total interactions.
Platform and device: Number of unique visitors to your profile broken down by device, like computer and mobile, or by platform, like Search or Maps. Note: A user can be counted a limited number of times if they visit your Business Profile on multiple devices and platforms such as desktop or mobile and Google Maps or Google Search.
Searches: The keywords people used to find your business. The Searches metric is updated at the beginning of each month. Updates may take 5 days to show up. Search queries display whenever your Business Profile shows up for a particular query. Note: You cannot directly manage queries.
Calls: Number of clicks on the call button on your Business Profile. Provide your phone number to start tracking this metric.
Messages: Number of unique conversations through messages.
Bookings: Number of completed bookings by customers. To get data for this metric, you need to set up bookings through a provider.
Website clicks: Number of clicks on the website link on your Business Profile.
Products: Number of views on products over a selected period. These views only account for products sold at your Business Profile's location, not those sold online.
Food orders: Food orders placed for pickup or delivery directly from your Google Business Profile with an Order with Google Provider. Review Order with Google providers.
Menus: Number of clicks on the menu content per user per day. It includes menu photos, menu URLs, and structured menu data on your Business Profile.
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Performance. On mobile, select Promote and then Performance.
Adjust the Time period and view metrics
Products
The Product Editor allows businesses to build a presence on desktop and mobile to showcase their products.
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Edit products. On mobile, select Edit profile and then Products.
To add a new product, click Add product.
Fill in the product information (Product name, Category, Product price, and Product description).
Select a photo of the product.
Add a button (optional).
Click Publish.
To edit an existing product, find the product you’d like to update.
Click to open the product.
Make updates and click Publish.
Services
Add the services you offer, along with their descriptions and prices. If your business has multiple categories, group services together into sections under the appropriate category to keep your services organized.
When local customers search on Google for a service you offer, that service may be highlighted on your profile. Customers on mobile devices can also find all your services under "Services."
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Edit services. On mobile, select Edit profile and then Services.
To add a new service, click +Add more services, at the bottom of the page.
Fill in service information (Service name, Price type/Service price (if applicable), and Service description).
Click Save.
To edit an existing service, find the service you’d like to update.
Click to open the service.
Make updates and click Save.
Bookings
Google integrates with 3rd party booking systems to provide your customers with a seamless integration with their Google Calendar, for automatic booking reminders. You can view supported booking systems here.
Questions & Answers
In Google Maps, a customer can ask questions about the places and business they find. Business owners and others can respond to these Q&As directly. You can ask or answer questions from search on any device, and from Google Maps.
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Q & A. On mobile, under Questions & answers, tap See questions.
Next to the question, click Answer. Optional: To edit or delete your answer, click More and then click Edit or Delete.
Note: The person who asked will get a notification after you’ve answered.
Posts
You can connect with existing and potential customers through your Business Profile on Google Search and Maps through posts. You can create and share announcements, offers, new or popular items in stock, or event details directly with your customers.
On your desktop, using Google Search, select Add update. On mobile, select Promote and then select the type of post you’d like to use Add update, Add offer, Add event.
Fill in the applicable data (photo, video, description, action button, etc.) and click Post.
Updates
Provide general information about your business. You can include a photo or video, a description, and an action button.
Events
Promote an event at your business. Events require a title, start and end dates, and a time. If there aren’t start or end times, then the system will default to 24 hours on the date it's posted. These posts may also include a photo, video, description, and an action button. Events that meet certain criteria may also show on the "Overview" tab of the Business Profile to make them more prominent to customers.
Offers
Provide promotional sales or offers from your business. Offers require a title as well as start and end dates and times. A "View offer" action button is automatically added to the post. You can also include a photo, video, description, coupon code, link, and terms and conditions with the post. Offers appear near the top of the Business Profile on Google Search and Maps. They also appear with all other posts in the "Updates" tab.
